La Yeon Seoul

Fine-Dining Korean Restaurant in The Shilla Seoul

Opened in 2013, La Yeon at The Shilla Seoul landed a spot in Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list after just two years for delivering exquisite Korean delicacies in a fine-dining setting. The restaurant is set on the 23rd floor of five-star establishment The Shilla Seoul, featuring a chic interior of white furnishing, light wooden fixtures, simple floral arrangements and massive windows overlooking the bustling downtown Seoul.

Helmed by award-winning chef Kim Sung Il, La Yeon Seoul utilises the highest quality local and seasonal ingredients to create an extensive range of haute Korean cuisine. While traditional Korean delicacies tend to be very spicy and pungent, the dishes at La Yeon Seoul showcase the ingredients’ subtle yet natural flavours, which suit its international clientele.

Priced at 120,000 won (plus an additional 80,00on for wine pairing), The Feast offers seared beef rolls with vegetables, seasonal fish, Korean beef slices marinated in soy sauce, and a choice of chilled buckwheat noodles or hot pot rice with abalone and vegetables.

The Dignity menu costs 165,000 won, with mains consisting of abalone, sea cucumber and beef porridge, chilled seafood salad, Korean soup, seafood hot pot rice, and 10 Korean flavours selection of seasonal ingredients.

For a lengthy meal, we highly recommend the Shilla Menu, which is made up of premium delicacies such as chicken and ginseng in cold soy milk broth, beef and mushroom dumplings, grilled eel, and a choice between char-grilled Korean beef sirloin, grilled short rib patties, or braised Korean beef ribs.

Lastly, La Yeon Seoul’s hongsam bingseol and tofu pyeon are absolute must-tries for health-conscious diners looking to satisfy their sweet tooth.
