The weather in Seoul is categorised as a temperate climate which comprises four distinctive seasons, namely spring, summer, autumn, and winter. The best time to visit Seoul is during autumn, which takes place between the months of September and November. Numerous cultural festivals such as the Seoul Drum Festival (mid-September), Andong Maskdance Festival (between late September and early October), and Jinju Namgang Yudeung Lantern Festival (early October) are also held throughout South Korea.
Seoul’s climate in springtime makes it a great time to visit, when cherry blossoms in vibrant hues of pink, violet, and white are in full bloom within the city and beyond. Taking place in mid-April is the Yeouido Spring Flowers Festival, an annual festivity that features lively floral parades, street performances, photography, and art exhibitions.
Winter Season in Seoul
Lasting from December until mid-March, average temperatures in Seoul range between 10°C and -10°C. While many avoid planning their trip to Seoul during its bitter winter months, the city and its surrounds still offer a myriad of activities such as ice-skating, skiing, and snowboarding. During the winter periods, locals often flock to the city’s numerous shopping malls, dance clubs, music bars, and jjimilbang (public bath houses) to escape the cold Seoul weather.
